Technical Information: Firewall Configuration The ICC software is a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) based conferencing system. It uses a static IP address and seven ports on the network. It also has a built in NAT (Network Address Translation) compensator for those networks that are not capable of rewriting packet data directly. Required Ports: - TCP 1099 - TCP 1503 - UDP 5060 (SIP) - UDP 62621 through 62624 To test your firewall configuration using our automated test system, click on the following link from the system you wish to test. This test will only check the system that it is run from. Firewall Test (external link) After running the firewall test to confirm that the proper ports are accessible, download our testing software and contact us to run a test with our technicians. This test is much more in-depth, and can reveal any conditions that may prevent the proper functioning of the ICC software. Test Software (28kb ZIP file) Important: Cisco firewalls operating SAS v7.0 or newer have the ability to inspect SIP SDPs (Session Description Packets) and open certain ports automatically. When using the "inspect sip" command, it is only necessary to define the first three ports. The four ports in the range will be opened automatically by the firewall. If the "inspect sip" command is used, the firewall configuration must be manually tested - the automated firewall test system will return incorrect results. Important: Audio and video traffic operate on UDP ports. Real-time data traveling on UDP ports cannot operate through more than one NAT step. If an outside address gets NATed more than once, it will break the UDP streams, causing audio and video traffic to fail. You can check for extra NAT steps by running a "trace route" to the system in question from outside your network. If you see your external IP address more than once in the trace results, you have extra NAT steps in place that will need to be eliminated. Software Updates The ICC system has the ability to update it's software to the latest version every time it starts up. If your ICC system does not update itself, our technicians may ask you to download and run this file. Auto Updater (104kb IDL file. Rename [*_exe_.idl] to [*.exe] for proper function) |
